about

Have you ever been out in public and seen someone pass by and you find yourself making up a story with them as the central character. Or a walk on part. It may be hat they are wearing that sets your imagination off. Or the lope of their walk. It allows us to shift out of the here and now ,into different worlds yet return back to ourselves with perhaps something new understood about ourselves or world around us.

When I hear discussion on 'what is consciousness' I wonder if our innate story creation is it. To create story we imagine scenarios, we have a future and a past. We give name to things.  It allows us to relate to the world around us. It allows for humour, for sadness, for joy, for contemplation. Story seems to bubble out of us like a brook. It allows for abstract thought.

It allows us to daydream.

And it flows out of us,almost like an instinct we posses.

It is such a powerful force within us. And the stories we tell ourselves shape how we are out in the world, what we are told to hope for ourselves.

50word Story

Deep water

“Get down from there. You’ll hurt yourself.”

“But ma,” he leapt across to the next post, “I’m crossing shark infested waters!”

he leapt again but landed off center.

His free leg pushed out and his arms wind milled as he stared down an imagined shark before righting himself.
