i visited south africa in march  of 2017 to help my mother move home. i somehow managed to meet someone who taught at a teaching collage helping art graduates become art teachers. she asked her friends to look at my work and they each gave me a nugget of good advice. fragment paintings is a standard technique to break out of the form you get used to. in a way they are very throw away ideas but it helped me get out of laying my paint in thick globs and to begin to thin out how i used acrylic. this would begin to show up later in sark and turkey, where i would go paint later in the year
