We forget so easily how to be compassionate.

Recently my mother fell and broke her femur whilst trying to rush to get the bin out for rubbish collection. A very ordinary accident and a very ordinary injury for a woman of her years. She was placed in a ward with a lady who had
Parkinson and was having delusional experiences that causes her to shriek throughout the night. My mother wasn't unsettled at all by this stating ' well we had all sorts when I was a nurse so you get used to this and anyway, we forgot so easily how to be compassionate' and then went on to describe the sun rise across Hiddingh Butress and how long the sun takes to touch the far side of the wall. I have always been struck be incredible insights in ordinary moments. They shine like stars in the night sky and allow us to steer our lives by.
