line Drawing
In 2013 my contract wasn't renewed and I left working in social housing. I decided to go traveling. On my first day in Rome I broke my arm and had to return back to London for an operation. I got a job soon after as a porter in a hospital and as I was on my feet for work decided to sit for lunch hour in a local park. As it was central London the place was full of people and after awhile I decided I should try drawing.
I think I was getting a little bored of photography without realising it. I bought a pad and a pen and began.
I soon realised that I loved trying to create that first line that allows for the others to flow around and that ones hand seems to do things that you don't see at the time. Strange bits of detail from what seems a little scribble .
I also soon realised how hard it is to get your perspective right .
A lot of time I was drawing people walking past so you get a few seconds to sketch but I think that gives you a certain freedom as you move very quickly.
And feet and hands are tough so I left them out.
