Ghost Portraits
and Light
I had begun to take ghost portraits in London around 2012. Long exposure where I was in the shot for a few seconds and then walked away to create a ghost image.
On the road through the Namib desert and Richtersveldt in Southern Africa I created most of these images. I used a variety of different torch lights. I also photographed on a river which causes the shimmering of the light reflecting.
Sometimes fish leapt out of the water as I went. Perhaps I disturbed them in their sleep.
You can also see the difference between moonlight and a dark Southern African night sky in these images
